The first title deals with the worst of the scams that you are likely to encounter. These can be very expensive, ridiculously so at times, and many of them are unfortunately common. You need to know that there are people in the tourist locations that wake up every day with the sole purpose of ripping tourists. Its what they do for a living. The Ten Cardinal Sins book deals primarily, but not entirely, with the problems that men face if they decide to get involved with Thai women, in particular, those in the sex trade. The book also points out some of the major systemic differences between life in the West and life in Thailand. Another Ten Sins deals more with general advice, its starts with the The Age Rule Part 1 - probably the most confused area of law in Thailand. Thailand has one law for Thais, another for foreigners, and to make it even worse, the western governments have another law that over-arches both of these laws.
