George Fitzclarence, Earl of Munster, Son of King William IV

Genre: Kindle Edition
Author: John Van der Kiste
Price: £0.00
George Fitzclarence, Earl of Munster, was the eldest of the ten children of William, Duke of Clarence and later King William IV of Great Britain by his mistress, the actress Dorothea Jordan. He served in the army in Europe and India and later wrote an account of his travels and the war in India. Although illegitimate, until almost to the end of his life he probably hoped for a place in the royal order of succession to the throne. His later years were blighted by financial problems, quarrels with his father and possibly ‘the royal malady’, porphyria, and his life ended in tragedy. This short life includes notes on his brothers and sisters, his children, the later Earls of Munster, and a select bibliography. (Length approx. 14,000 words)
